Diary

November 13, 2022

  • Got Uber to airport (big decision) - great flights, landed and got Uber to hotel, arrived around 4:30-ish.

  • Hotel was a little villa, room 44, hard to find at first. Inn on St. Ann.

  • Went to Congo Square down the street - drums & dancing, all people in white robes/turbans.

  • Went to Jackson Square but dark and not sure of safety so headed back.

  • Got Gumbo and fries at Quarter Grocery/Deli.

  • 9,025 steps

November 14, 2022

  • Was up very early, started walking.

  • Got coffee at CC’s then got ready.

  • Went to St. Louis Cemetery #2, it never opened at 9, learned later that it was closed due to vandalism. Took pics through the gate.

  • It was cold. Just walked around and took pics.

  • Went to Jackson Square again, musicians at Cafe du Monde.

  • Got earrings for Jenn and myself at a shop in the French Quarter.

  • MMMM. Pralines at Aunt Sally’s.

  • Walked though the French Market.

  • Oh. Forgot that I checked my bags at the hotel and was nervous that they would be lost.

  • Stopped at the Gazebo Cafe for great live music and an Irish coffee.

  • Walked by the Airbnb - can’t get in yet.

  • Who Dat Cafe - SO cool. Had a huge mimosa and eggs then hung out to read a book.

  • Got yelled at by some crazy that called me an “ignorant fu*king bi*ch” for having my phone.

  • Checked in at 4, the place was awesome.

  • Ran to Robert Fresh Market for snacks - had fun with a guy in the checkout line, we raced to pay first and I had to explain our shenanigans to security.

  • Got sausage and artichoke dip.

  • Posted some stuff, stayed up late, trouble with sleep.

  • Totally stormed all night.

  • 29,027 steps

November 15, 2022

  • Lazy morning, journaled and set schedule for the rest of the week.

  • Talked to new employee, good discussion.

  • Left before noon to get boom boom shrimp, Acme was closed.

  • Went to H&M, they didn’t have sweaters.

  • Cafe Beignet on Royal Street for mufaletta - Good.

  • Came back and crafted a work email.

  • Sooooo cold in the rental.

  • Went out to Silk Road Wine & Cheese - had a cheese plate and wine.

  • Met Aaron at the bar who used to be a tour guide, he gave me several recommendations but I still didn’t let him buy me wine.

  • Walked to the Peach Cobbler Factory, got some with ice cream, it was $$ but only OK.

  • Froze more and went to bed.

  • 10,544 steps

November 16, 2022

  • Woke up super cold, sent message to Michelle and got directions to fix.

  • Set work meeting then walked to Cafe Beignet….the beignet is just a warm bunch of friend dough, gave half to a sleeping guy on the street.

  • Had work call.

  • Walked to NOMA - the sculpture garden was absolutely insane!

  • Hug out in the museum for a while, it was OK.

  • Walked to the Gumbo Shop for jambalaya and a glass of red zin. Both pretty good.

  • Came home, couldn’t fix heat.

  • Went to get tarot reading at Crescent City Conjure. She told me I had several cards of masculinity so was good at keeping myself safe, healthy and prosperous…but needed to take care of my inner girl. Also said I’m now freed up to accept a tall, dark and handsome man in my life. I’m like…are you sure it’s not a dog? Ha ha.

  • Got some chips and came home.

  • 25,556 steps

November 17, 2022

  • Got up too early….but was up. Had coffee and got ready for my last day here.

  • Walked to Audubon Aquarium - expensive and teeming with screaming annoying little kids.

  • I love jellyfish.

  • Walked to Acme Oyster House - sat at the bar and had some boom boom shrimp. SO glad I waited.

  • Walked to Who Dat Cafe, sat for a while with coffee - very tired.

  • Came back to Airbnb and rested.

  • Walked to Earth Odyssey for a 4:30 appointment with Carol.

  • OMG. The reading was so good, all recorded on my phone. Way cheaper and so accurate. Need to listen to it soon and take notes.

  • Went to Verti Marte and got an All That Jazz sandwich. Ate the entire thing (oof) and watched a Princess Di documentary.

  • Turned in early, ready to go home.
